Bonnet Catch Failure

Returning from a run the car juddered then stopped in a cloud of smoke.

The bonnet catch had fallen off and shorted out on the starter motor cable as you can see in the second picture. Managed to get going again after sloshing water over the smoking cable. A lucky escape.
